Christopher Reid, the “Kid” in 1980s hip-hop duo Kid ‘n Play, was arrested at his home Tuesday (Aug. 9) for missing multiple court dates tied to 2010 DUI arrest, according to reports.

The 47-year-old rapper-turned-actor, who has had a warrant out for his arrest since Aug. 2, was taken into custody and booked into the Los Angeles County Jail around noon. Bail was set at $26,000, and upon his release later Tuesday he told TMZ the whole thing was a “clerical error.”

Reid was arrested July 8, 2010 for driving with almost double the legal alcohol limit and later pleaded no contest and was ordered to seek counseling and pay fines.

He was also sentenced to three years probation and his failure to show up to court hearings on at least two occasions brought on the arrest warrant.

Along with Christopher “Play” Martin, Reid delivered a positive, feel-good brand of hip-hop in the late 1980s until the gangsta rap era arrived. The group’s last album, “Face the Nation,” was released in 1991. They are perhaps best known for transitioning their act to the big (“House Party” films) and small (Saturday morning cartoons) screens.

Nicki Minaj has joined the cast of Dreamworks’ upcoming film Ice Age: Continental Drift. Along with the Harajuku Barbie, Joy Behar, Nick Frost, JB Smoove, Heather Morris, Josh Gad, Alan Tudyk, Kunal Nayyar and Alain Chabat have been added to the fourth installment in the franchise.

20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios previously announced the initial voice cast, which includes Drake, Jennifer Lopez, Queen Latifah, Aziz Ansari and more.

Steve Martino and Michael Thurmeier are slated to direct the flick, which is set for a July 13, 2012 release. The pic follows Scrat (Chris Wedge), “whose pursuit of an acorn has world-changing consequences that help Sid (John Leguizamo) reunite with his long lost family.”

Minaj is yet to make her big screen debut, though previously revealed that she specialized in drama while attending the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.

Waka Flocka Flame was arrested and released earlier today in Georgia after police pulled him over for a routine traffic violation and discovered marijuana in his car.

According to TMZ, the Atlanta, Georgia rapper was stopped earlier this afternoon in his white Chevy Tahoe for the traffic violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, police smelled marijuana emitting from the car and discovered “a small amount of marijuana” on the floor. He was cited for possession of less than one ounce of weed and failure to wear a seatbelt.

A little over a week ago, he was arrested in New York City, New York for criminal possession of marijuana in the parking lot of Queens, New York’s Coliseum Mall. He was later released and not charged with any crime.

(Billboard.com) – The Jay-Z/Kanye West collaboration ‘Watch the Throne’ hits iTunes in a week (Aug. and brick-and-mortars a week after that, but fans eager to see them in person will have to wait until late October to take in their live show, according to Pitchfork.

Scheduled to start in Detroit on Sept. 22, the two rap kings have pushed nearly 20 concerts ranging from Washington, D.C. (Sept. 29), Denver (Oct. 10) and Los Angeles (Oct. 19-20).

Several of the dates don’t appear to have been re-scheduled yet, including Montreal (Sept. 25), Sacramento (Oct. 17) and Sunrise, Fla. (Nov. 14).

“Fat” Joe is no more. The Bronx, New York, rapper has recently been dropping pounds like he drops hit records, losing more than 80 pounds to date. No word yet as to whether he will consider a name change, but his friend and frequent collaborator DJ Khaled is in full support and astonished by his buddy’s new physique.

“Joe lost so much weight that I can’t believe it,” Khaled told Mixtape Daily. “I was just on the phone with him and he was like, ‘Khaled I wear a 1X. I walk into Bal Harbour, go to Gucci and whatever.’ ”

Shopping in the ritzy North Miami Beach neighborhood is not the only perk to being lighter. According to Khaled, Joe’s diet has also reinvigorated his artistic muscle. “Now he goes into any store and buys a 1X. He said he feels the best he ever felt and he’s back in the studio working,” the We the Best Forever DJ said. “I think by him losing all this weight, it just inspired him, just more inspiration for him to make more hit records.”

Back in June, Joe revealed to the New York Daily News that he went on a diet following the deaths of a number of his close friends. “I always loved being fat, obviously. I’m Fat Joe,” the rapper told the newspaper. “If I could gain 1,000 pounds and be healthy, I would love to do that. The biggest killer of people is food. It kills more people than AIDS or gun violence or war, anything you can name.

“Everybody keep catching strokes and heart attacks, and what happened to me was, like seven of my friends passed last year from heart attacks, and they were all 32, 34 years old, 35. And I said, ‘I got kids, I can’t leave ‘em like that.’ This world is too hard for me to leave my kids, without me supervising and being there for them.”
